Memory Loss Causing You To Lose Track Of Days

I think that it is safe to say that we will all experience a bit of memory loss as we age, for one reason or another. However, if this continues to be problematic, a visit to our health care provider is in order.

Memory loss can be caused by a myriad of reasons. It is important to determine why we are experiencing it.

Loss of memory can be caused by increased stress and anxiety in our lives. It can be a side effect of the medication we are taking, alcohol we consume, smoking, use of recreational drugs, fatigue, poor nutrition and a symptom of menopause.

Other possible reasons for memory loss are the effects of head trauma, stroke, and progressive memory loss due to dementia, the most common of which is Alzheimer's disease.

All in all, our doctor is the best person to determine the cause of our memory loss and which course of action to follow. Prompt diagnosis and appropriate, timely care can go a long way to rectifying the situation for us.

One of the best ways to keep us feeling secure and oriented to day and time is to have a timepiece prompting us with this information.

Marnau offers a line of day and time clocks which, at a glance, keep us abreast of this important information. The clocks have large, easy to read faces, and their contemporary style will fit in with any decor. They can help us keep track of appointments and ground us in the here and now.

They would make great gifts for our retiring "boomer" friends!

''Speak lounder!!'' she said.

My mom was having trouble hearing on the telephone when she received calls.

There is a history of age onset hearing loss in the family, but she wasn't ready to acknowledge the problem, or go for testing to see if a hearing aid would be beneficial to her. Hearing aids were for old people! Once a very socially active person involved in volunteering and various groups, she became insecure and anxious, withdrew from social interaction, and lost some self-confidence. She found it embarrassing to continually ask callers to "speak louder".

After convincing her to consult with her doctor, he ordered hearing tests done by an audiologist. When the results were in, Mom was fitted with a hearing aid. Being able to hear properly again really gave her a boost!

Unfortunately, speaking on the phone with family and friends remained a frustrating experience for her. There were feedback noises to be dealt with, and voices were unclear.

Marnau has a series of telephones specifically designed to address and correct this problem.  Digital Amplified Freedom Phones, available in land-line and cellular models, are specifically designed for people who wear hearing aids. They offer exceptional amplification, no feedback noise, and are completely adjustable to all levels of hearing. The ringer adjusts to 95 decibels, assuring no missed calls.

Child Therapy Gaming Environment for Professional and Home Use

Kids will be kids....and kids just want to have fun! Unfortunately, "special needs" children, I feel, sometimes get to be known by their conditions, and not for the wonderful people that they are. As well, there are limited government resources out there to help these kids to be all that they can be.

Children living with CP (cerebral palsy), ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), DCD (developmental coordination disorder or "clumsy child'' syndrome), Dyspraxia ( an impairment or immaturity of the organization of movement), Hypotonia (low muscle tone often associated with reduced muscle strength), ADD (attention deficit disorder), PDD (pervasive developmental disorder), and ASD (autism spectrum disorder), and learning disabilities, to name a few, may wait many months for services important for their care. Often Occupational Therapy is vital for their ongoing progress. Again, resources are limited.

Marnau Adaptive Products offers a motion based computer game for home play that encourages both children's' physical and cognitive activity in children from 2 to 8 years. The Timocco development game is an interactive, fun and exciting game designed to increase kids' motivation. As they play the game they feel satisfaction and improve their everyday performance in a non frustrating way. The game provides a non violent environment, and encourages parent- child interaction.

As with all medical questions, please discuss with your health care provider the suitability of this game for your child.

*A professional edition is also available.  Enabling Therapists to track the child's performance.  Provides advanced management and data analysis tools
